The Belleville Downtown Improvement Area (BDIA) in partnership with the Quinte Arts Council (QAC) is thrilled to present the third annual Belleville-on-the-Bay-of-Quinte Plein Air Festival. On Thursday, May 28th to Sunday, May 31st, 2015 artists will be able to capture the beauty of the City of Belleville en Plein Air. The Plein Air Festival has been expanded to a four day festival in which artists will be completing their works outdoors capturing the natural light, colour, texture and nuance in their work. “The 2014 festival was a huge success and we are eager to bring this great event that celebrates the diverse arts scene in the City of Belleville back to the community”, says Seppo Nousiainen, Plein Air Festival Chairman. Once again this year artists will be able to capture the beautiful images of historic Downtown Belleville, the shores of the Bay of Quinte, the famous “Old East Hill” and the Moira River. Last year saw entries from many local artists as well as from Toronto. This event is a juried and judged competition that is open to artists working in various mediums such as watercolour, acrylic, soft pastel and oil. The event will kick off on Thursday, May 28th and there will be an artist’s reception on Friday, May 29th at Dinkel’s Restaurant and Courtyard. There is a $30.00 registration fee for artists and there will be cash awards of up to $4500.00 for competing artists. The BDIA, QAC and Plein Air planning committee would like to invite all artists to participate in this unique community event and celebrate art en Plein Air!
