Arts en Plein Air Festival

The Quinte Arts Council, in association with numerous Belleville and Quinte arts groups, is organizing the fourth Belleville on the Bay of Quinte Plein Air Festival, now renamed Arts en Plein Air 2017, which will run from Thursday, September 7 to Sunday, September 10. Artists from near and far will capture the beauty of Belleville and the Quinte region ‘en plein air,’ while local and regional arts organizations will gather to celebrate and showcase ‘en plein air’ the innumerable arts offerings in our area which help to confirm our region as an important arts destination. Comedy for the Arts (our 3rd annual comedy show) was held on Feb. 18, 2017 and featured some of the funniest comedians and hilarious performers in the region including Dan Curtis Thompson, Rebecca Reeds, Guled Abdi, James Hamilton, Jason Bremner and Caleb Gazley. Read more…

Expressions Biennial Juried Visual Art Show

May – Expressions, the Quinte Arts Council’s Biennial Juried Visual Art Show at the John M. Parrott Art Gallery, Belleville Public Library features the work of artists and artisans from throughout the Quinte region. The next Expressions will be held in 2019. Arts Recognition Awards and Mayor’s Luncheon for the Arts

Each year, the Quinte Arts Council recognizes those individuals or businesses who have made a difference to the arts in our community. Nominations are accepted until (note new deadline date) February 15. Winners are celebrated at The Mayor’s Luncheon for the Arts held in June.  Read more…

Annual General Meeting and Member Gathering

Spring – The Quinte Arts Council’s Annual General Meeting is held in the spring of each year. The meeting includes the election of the board of directors, reports on the QAC’s strategic planning initiatives, social time and networking, finger foods and entertainment. Everyone is welcome.

September – Culture Days raises the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. Culture Days is a collaborative initiative that welcomes your participation. The event is held the last weekend of September. Read more…

Art in the Community Visual Arts Show and Sale

Every 3 Months – These art exhibits change every 3 months, and showcase the works of area artists and artisans in the QAC’s Gallery and Gift Shop (36 Bridge St. E., Belleville, ON) and in non-traditional venues, to raise awareness for, and sell the work of, local artists and artisans.  Read more…

World Music and Dance

Fall and/or Spring – Each year the QAC offers a World Music and Dance performance and workshop, providing performing arts experiences to students which they may otherwise not be exposed to.  This program is free to students in Quinte. Read more…

QAC Fundraiser

Fall – The QAC has held a fundraising event in the fall for many years – the Holiday Gala and the Festival of Trees. In 2014 we held the first BelleVegas Variety Show and Bellevegas Hip for the Holidays at the Empire Theatre in Belleville. In 2015, it was BelleVegas III- Hipper than Ever! and the 2016 show was Bellevegas IV, The Big Band Sessions. These fabulous variety shows feature musicians and singers performing with band leader, Dan Shaer and his Variety, The Dance and Show Band. Each singer picks songs from Variety’s extensive playlist, then takes to the stage with the band for an incredible night of music and entertainment. Read more…
