Les Portes de Paris will transport you to Baroque-era France! Click here to hear the music on their MySpace site. On October 2, an extraordinary trio of musicians will perform the music of the French baroque era on period instruments – harpsichord, flute and viola de gamba. The Quinte Arts Council and Jeunesses Musicales of Canada will present Les Portes de Paris in a setting that is intimate and harkens back to the elegance of a French salon. The evening performance will be held in the Richie Room at Capers Brasserie and Wine Bar, 272 Front St. in downtown Belleville. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for cocktails and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. At intermission, guests will be treated to delectable hors d’oeuvres that have been specially prepared for the evening by Capers. Made up of young Quebec musicians with a passion for typically French Baroque music played on period instruments, Les Portes de Paris trio brings back to life works composed in France in the 17th and 18th centuries. The trio’s performances are original, dazzling, and especially moving, and you can’t help but be carried away by the smooth, refined, and lively sounds.
