Expressions 2017 visual art show and sale Opening Reception May 4

THEME: Canadian State of Mind The Quinte Arts Council's biennial Expressions Juried Visual Art Show and Sale will feature 2- and 3-dimensional art and craft created by the artists of Quinte. An opening reception will be held on May 4, 6 to 7:30 pm in the John M. Parrott Gallery at the Belleville Public Library. The show will run May 4 to June 1 and several awards will be handed out. The show this year will have a theme to commemorate Canada's 150th birthday - Canadian State of Mind.

A Brighter Future Gala – Celebrating Mental Health in the Arts

The Family Support Network of Hastings & Prince Edward County would like to invite you to participate in our first “A Brighter Future Gala”. This event is designed to raise awareness regarding mental health, reduce stigma and foster open conversation throughout our community, while promoting and celebrating the effective coping strategies, self-care, resilience and hope of individuals who utilize the arts as part of their mental wellness! We want challenge public perceptions by showcasing, in a public performance/exhibition, artistic individuals/groups within our community that practice literary; performing ; media or visual arts.

May is mystery month! To celebrate, the Belleville Public Library will be hosting a talk with mystery author Peter Kirby on Sat., May 6 at 2:30 pm in the 3rd floor meeting room. Mr. Kirby’s most recent crime fiction title, Open Season, was the 2016 Arthur Ellis Best Novel award winner. His other titles include The Dead of Winter and Vigilante Season.
