Aug. 31                   Art in the Gallery Workshop - The John M Parrott Gallery and the BAA present a mini workshop, Think Small, Miniatures with Cynthia Solomon, 9:30 am to noon in the gallery, 3rd Floor, Belleville Public Library.  Come with your ideas and small canvases and paper and start to paint.  Materials: anything that you need for your project and frames if you already have them.  There will be mats for sale at a modest fee in some of the smaller sizes.  Cost: $3, no sign up is necessary. Tables are provided.  Everyone is welcome. You do not need to be a member of the BAA to participate.

Call  Rozema Farms is having a Multi Vendor Country Market on the long weekend (Sept. 4 and 5, 10 am to 6 pm) and are inviting local artists to participate.  There is a $20 vendors’ fee for the weekend (includes both days) and vendors are required to bring their own tables and shelter (if desired).  Vendors can start setting up after 9 am.  Location: 1189 County Rd. 64, Carrying Place.  Info: 613-848-5302, rozemafarms@gmail.com.

Craft Conference Sept. 11     Presented by the Ontario Crafts Council and the Tom Thomson Art Gallery, ‘Craft Practical’ is a one-day workshop series offering artists and craftspeople the opportunity to explore, interact, inform and be informed in regards to the contemporary craft world. Topics range from the practical to the conceptual. Culture Days  Attention Artists and Art Groups – Plan an event or advertise your already-planned events as part of Culture Days, a Canada-wide interactive celebration of arts and culture, September 24 to 26.  Register your event at www.culturedays.ca – it’s easy.  Then your event will be part of the national promotion.  This is how the event is described: “One weekend. Sept. 2 to 30           The John M. Parrott Art Gallery at the Belleville Library presents the Manly MacDonald Exhibition, with an opening reception on Sept. 11, from 2 to 4 pm.  Charles Beale’s book, “Manly Edward Macdonald (1889-1971) Interpreter of Old Ontario” will be launched at the reception, and the author will be present.  The show will also feature original works by Manly MacDonald from the Library’s collection, the Loyalist College Collection and private collections. Sept. 2 to 30           The Art Cellar at the Black Prince Winery, 13370 Loyalist Parkway, Picton, presents County Inspirations, featuring new works by Judy Plomer and Gudrun Gallo.  The opening reception is on Sept. 2, from 5 to 8 pm.  Gallery hours are 11 am to 5 pm daily.  Info: 613-476-4888.

Sept. 4 and 5   Carla Miedema is participating in Kawartha Fine Art Festival, Sat., Sept. 4, 10 am to 6 pm, Sun., Sept. 5, 10 am to 5 pm, in the Agricultural Building, Fenelon Falls.  This is an exhibition and sale of fine art by over 75 artists.  There will be music and food is available.  Admission is free and there are door prizes.  Info:  www.carlamiedema.com.

Sept. 4 to 29           Oeno Gallery presents Ethos, paintings by Sylvain Louis-Seize.  Over the past four years, Sylvain Louis-Seize has become well-known for his vivid landscapes, extraordinary skies, rivers and trees. Now he is turning his attention to what lies below the surface. The hard resin surfaces that marked his early work are left behind.  This powerful, subtle and expressive new body of work has its premier exhibition at the Oeno Gallery.  Louis-Seize will be present at the opening, on Sept. 4, from 3 to 6 pm.
