Calling All Visual and Performing Artists

Quinte Arts Council is hosting an Arts En Plein Air Festival September 7 to 10 where artists will be coming to paint outdoors and compete for prizes.  We are seeking a variety of artists who are not participating in the Plein Air competition to participate in an artist showcase and/or sell their work on Saturday, September 9 at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the festival.  This is a new community event and we are hoping to promote the City of Belleville and surrounding area as an arts destination.

Visual Artists/Exhibitors to sell their work

Quinte Arts Council is hosting an Arts En Plein Air Festival September 7 to 10 where artists will be coming to paint outdoors and compete for prizes.  We are seeking a variety of artists who are not participating in the Plein Air competition to participate in an artist showcase and sell their work on Saturday, September 9 at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the festival.  This is a new community event and we are hoping to promote the City of Belleville and surrounding area as an arts destination.

The display areas will be located in tented spaces across from City Hall and at the Market Square (the number of locations will be determined by the number of artists that confirm by August 28.) There will be stages at each venue where we will have music and performances to help animate the spaces and attract the public.

There is no fee for participating and a 6’ table and 2 chairs will be provided.  You will be required to bring a table cloth or covering (black is preferred) and will be assigned a 10’ X 10’designated space.    We will charge a commission fee of 20% sales for QAC members and 30% for non-members. The event will be promoted on all local radio stations as well as in the fall issue of Umbrella. We are requesting a FULLY REFUNDABLE deposit of $100 to ensure that available space is fully utilized.

We are also requesting that you provide promotional and contact information for interested visitors.

A large mesh metal backdrop will be at the back of each space allowing works and other items to be hung/displayed.  There are no sides on the spaces.

Insurance:  Each vendor must provide proof of insurance and name the Quinte Arts Council and the City of Belleville in their insurance policy.  If you don’t have insurance we can assist you to purchase temporary insurance at a cost of approximately $75 to $90.

Performing Artists or Groups

Quinte Arts Council is hosting an Arts En Plein Air Festival September 7 to 10 where artists will be coming to paint outdoors and compete for prizes.  We are seeking a variety of artists to participate in an artist showcase that will take place on Saturday, September 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the festival.  This is a new community event and we are hoping to promote the City of Belleville and surrounding area as an arts destination.

It is our hope that you would be willing to take the stage to perform and to entertain the public and promote your work.   There will be stages located in tented venues across from City Hall, in the courtyard between the Belleville Public Library and the Pinnacle Playhouse and at the Market Square (number of locations will be determined by the number of artists that confirm by August 28.)  Musicians, vocalists and/or musical groups must provide their own sound equipment and we have arranged with the city for power sources at each stage.  Acoustic performances are also an option.

There will be no cost applied however a FULLY REFUNDABLE deposit of $100 is requested to ensure that available stage time is fully utilized. We anticipate each set to be about ½ hour.  This is a casual event and the audiences will not necessarily remain static through the entire time.  Please feel free to bring your promo material and information so that the public will know how to contact you and where and when you will be next appearing.
