Art in the Community: Visual Arts Shows and Sales

These art exhibits change every three months, and showcase the works of area artists and artisans in the QAC’s Gallery  (and in non-traditional venues), to raise awareness for, and sell the work of, local artists and artisans. December – Three-time JUNO Award nominees Sultans of String deliver an exuberant performance featuring band originals, world-music inspired classics, and seasonal favourites to warm your heart on a cold winter’s night. Arts Recognition Awards and Luncheon for the Arts

September – Each year, the Quinte Arts Council recognizes those individuals or businesses who have made a difference to the arts in our community. Nominations are accepted until (note new deadline date) June 8. Winners are celebrated at The Luncheon for the Arts which will be held in September.  Read more…

September – Culture Days raises the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. Culture Days is a collaborative initiative that welcomes your participation. The event is held the last weekend of September. Read more…

Expressions Biennial Juried Visual Art Show

May – Expressions, the Quinte Arts Council’s Biennial Juried Visual Art Show at the John M. Parrott Art Gallery, Belleville Public Library features the work of artists and artisans from throughout the Quinte region. The next Expressions will be held in 2019. Arts en Plein Air Painting Festival

May – The 2019 Arts En Plein Air Festival is a four-day event running from May 23 to 26, 2019, where artists will leave their studios behind to paint and showcase their work outdoors. Artists will have the opportunity to capture the beautiful images of historic downtown Belleville, the shores of the Bay of Quinte, the famous ‘Old East Hill’, the Moira River, and numerous other painting locations in the Quinte region.  For more information and to download the entry form, click here.

Annual General Meeting and Member Gathering

June – The Quinte Arts Council’s Annual General Meeting is held in the spring of each year. The meeting includes the election of the board of directors, reports on the QAC’s strategic planning initiatives, social time and networking, finger foods and entertainment. Everyone is welcome. The 2019 AGM will be held on June 14 at the Belleville Club.
