MEDIA RELEASE: $55,600 OTF TO HELP QAC CONNECT COMMUNITY WITH ARTS AND CULTURE
BELLEVILLE, ON: In 2021, the Quinte Arts Council (QAC) received a $55,600 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to create a new website and brand to better support and promote artists and a new app connecting community with arts and culture. The project nears completion and will provide a website with upgraded functionality and new opportunities for artist members and community partners, such as online artist profiles and searchable directory, virtual art gallery, Umbrella magazine, virtual workshops, event listings and promotion via marketing tools and app, and artists in schools opportunities.
“The arts are both a reflection of the world around us and a major local economic driver in the Quinte Region,” said Todd Smith, MPP for Bay of Quinte. “With this support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, Quinte Arts Council members can focus on what they do best – creating, while trusting that these promotional efforts will deliver a broader audience of potential consumers. That’s a plus for everyone involved as we recover from COVID-19.”
“The impact of this Ontario Trillium Foundation grant cannot be underestimated,” said Janet Jarrell, Executive Director, QAC. “We believe it is crucial for both the recovery of the QAC, our artist members, and arts and culture in the Quinte Region that our website and online tools are reimagined and modernized. Funding these digital initiatives is a long-term investment in our creative community”
The QAC is the community leader in advancing, cultivating, promoting, and advocating for a vibrant and diverse arts community of the Quinte region, while supporting the new generation of artists, offering quality experiences and arts education. An inclusive and equitable culture of diversity is at the core of our mandate at the QAC. Our authentic commitment to these values is unwavering – they are central to our mission and to our impact across all disciplines of the arts. We know that having varied perspectives helps cultivate creative ideas, and inclusion is how we unleash the power of diversity and creativity.
