The Quinte Symphony Orchestra is calling for applicants for the position of Concertmaster for the 2016-17 season. The Concertmaster will work together with the Music Director, professional principal string players, and a combination of dedicated volunteer musicians to put on 4 to 5 high quality concerts a year in the Belleville area.
The ideal candidate will have a high-level of artistic leadership and facility on their instrument to support the preparation, rehearsal and performance of each concert. The concertmaster will be an artistic leader in the organization by working collaboratively with the other string principals and the Music Director, inspiring musicians to reach new heights.
This paid position, competitive with orchestras in our budget category, is based on qualifications, experience and the orchestra’s budget. The position is for one-year as a trial period, includes evaluation and is renewable. The Quinte Symphony season is a minimum of 32 services per year from October through May, with the possibility for additional services as new projects arise. Regular attendance at Sunday evening rehearsals is essential. Interested musicians are invited to submit a cover letter and a curriculum vitae. All those deemed of interest to the selection committee will be contacted shortly after. Auditions and interviews will take place in Belleville late September.

Founded in 1960 as the Eastern Ontario Concert Orchestra by Stephen Choma in conjunction with local businessman Thomas Bata, the Quinte Symphony has become one of Quinte’s most significant and highly acclaimed performing arts organizations.
