Bob House
Photographer

Bob House is a well known photographer who has put in much of his time as QBSC’s photographer.
House is a tireless champion of the arts and a firm believer that the arts are for everyone. His involvement for ten years on the Board of the Quinte Arts Council in the early 1980’s led him to getting involved with many arts festivals. Over his 20 years donating his time as QBSC’s photographer, House has helped dancers build their portfolios, he’s toured with the school when they performed out of town including their Toronto performance at the O’Keefe Centre with Rex Harrington & Evelyn Hart. In 2015, House found a creative way to help raise funds for the ballet school by agreeing to cut his legendary beard that measured a good 12 inches in length. “Who knew that cutting my facial hair could bring in over $16,000,” said House.
“I’ve been a photographer for 45 years” said House. “I bought my first camera to help someone out and my hobby soon became my passion and my career.” Bob House has also devoted an enormous amount of energy ensuring the acceptance of “Photography as Art”. He was a founding member of PhotoMatrix that operated for 10 years and provided a network for local photographers to organize exhibits and workshops. Favourite exhibits included “A Day in the Life of Belleville” and a portrait exhibition that celebrated local artists in the community.
