Belleville Concert Band

Introducing the NEW Belleville Concert Band

They mix and they laugh and they learn – the old and the young and the in-betweens – when they get together to make music on  Tuesday evenings at the Quinte Living Centre.

The Belleville Concert Band is a true community not-for-profit band, with its 30-or-so members coming from all over the Quinte area. Ages, lifestyles, occupations vary greatly, but the joy and challenge of music-making brings this eclectic group together, and has been doing so since the band was formed as the Quinte Living Centre Concert Band in 1986 by the late Charlie Kammer. This enthusiastic group practices Tuesdays from 7 – 9 p.m. at the Quinte Living Centre on Front Street. The QLC has been the Band’s home since its beginning; in fact the QLC was instrumental in getting the band started and continues as support for the band to this day.

The mission of the band is to provide an opportunity for local musicians to get together in a fun, no stress environment to rehearse music with the goal of performing for the public. It’s composed of professional and amateur musicians who have a love for music and the repertoire is similar to many of the other standard concert bands. You can usually expect to hear a wide variety of music at the performances including a march, some Broadway, some POP, a vocal or two, some light classics, music from the movies and more to give the audience an entertaining experience they will remember.

The band has performed for the 50th Anniversary of the 7th Town Historical Society in Ameliasburg, and at the Bayview Retirement Residence, for the residents of the Wellings in Picton and in Trenton for their musical concert series.

You, or someone you know, could be part of this group too! The band currently has opening in most instrumental sections and is welcoming enthusiastic musicians. New applicants must have the ability to read music well and have the proper community band attitude that will blend with the other musicians. Future performances the band will be considering are public concerts in the parks of Belleville and area, retirement residences, supporting local City and fund raising events and performing at special concerts and events like Canada Day, Remembrance Day and Christmas concerts. Just ask – the band will be happy to perform at your event.
