“An incubator for the soul – a place where people find their best selves through music and community”
Music at Port Milford Chamber Music Festival and Summer School is celebrating its 31st Season.
Established in 1987, Music at Port Milford is the longest running music festival in Prince Edward County. As one long-time audience member exclaimed, “Port Milford performances are unique in the joy that they exude!” Attending a Port Milford concert is to experience the passing of the torch from mentor to student. World class artists, including the Juno award-winning Afiara ensemble, the Tokai String Quartet, the Cecelia Quartet (first prize winners at the 2010 Banff competition) and celebrated violinist Marie Berard (Concert Master of the Canadian Opera Company), come together this summer to inspire the community through their performances and mentor the students at the Music at Port Milford chamber music summer school. In turn, the accomplished and talented students, selected from across the continent, give inspired performances of their own each week.
In addition to the Artist Performance series at St Mary Magdalene, and student performances at the camp overlooking South Bay, MPM will once again offer a one week non- auditioned Choral Day Camp program for elementary students who love to sing. The program is designed to stimulate learning, foster cooperation and fun, and facilitate a love of music in children across the county. Students will meet daily, Monday through Friday, from 9am to 12pm, participating in workshops and preparing choir material at the Bloomfield Town Hall. The program will culminate in a Sunday matinee performance at the MPM in Milford.
Are you an adult who loves to sing? Come join our Community Summer Sing 2017, July 25-30. For more information: Meg Hill firstname.lastname@example.org
