Toby Tylor

Toby Tylor is excited to have recently relocated to Belleville after retiring from 30 years in Peterborough where he owned and operated Electric City Gardens a unique, boutique gourmet restaurant, art studio and gallery, specializing in international cuisine, wine tastings and charitable events.  Reviewed as “the hidden gem of the Kawarthas”.


1960-1963:  Silvermine College of Art, Silvermine, Connecticut.

Studied with Robert Franco.  Drawing, painting, print making, sculpture.  Studio assistant.


1964:  Studied Modern Painting, Houston, Texas.


1966:  New School for Social Research, New York City, New York.


1976-1983:  University of Toronto, Fine Art Department, Toronto, Ontario.

Studied painting with Kim Andrews.


1986-2016:  Chef and Owner of Electric City Gardens, one of Peterborough’s most popular restaurants.  A combination of casual fine dining, art studio and gallery.  For over 30 years, combined passion for international gourmet cuisine and fine wine, with my own painting projects in restaurant studio and art classes for children.


2017:  Mosaic School, Ravenna, Italy


2018:  Studied Icon Painting with Daniel Neculae of European School of Louxembourg:  Church of St. John the Evangelist, Romania.


2017-date:  Studying Oil Painting at Estevez Art Academy with Jesus Estevez, Belleville, Ontario.  Landscape, portrait
Art Interests:  Archaic, ancient, classical, baroque and modern.   Multi-media.  Print making.  Abstract painting.


Other Interests:  Classical literature, religious history, modern philosophy and psychology, nature, international travel, wildlife, community service.
