July 30: Call for proposals to create awards for 2020 Arts Recognition Awards ** This opportunity is now closed **
For over 25 years, we’ve hosted a Luncheon for the Arts/Arts Recognition Awards ceremony to recognize and celebrate those who have made a difference in our community. Without exception, these individuals are making Quinte a destination for those craving a vibrant arts and culture scene.
In 2019 we awarded five recipients beautiful glass creations from Mark Armstrong of Armstrong Glassworks in Wellington, Ontario.
We are requesting proposals from Quinte artists for the design and creation of this year’s awards. The successful applicant will be asked to design and create five awards in advance of the Luncheon for the Arts/Arts Recognition Awards this fall. (Exact date TBD)
The award can be a two or three-dimensional artwork in any medium, including wood, glass, copper, metal, ceramic, framed drawings or paintings, and should have presence and visual impact. While individual awards do not need to be perfectly identical (although they may be), the design should be consistent enough to appear cohesive.
We are open to new and creative ideas, but the following criteria must be followed:
- The commission will be awarded to one (1) artist or artist group
- Award design should consider placement of engraving/plaque/recognition for award recipient’s name
- Budget for awards is $500 ($100 per award)
- Commission preference will be given to current QAC members
- Deadline for RFP submission is August 17, 2020
- Deadline for award delivery is September 30, 2020
While completing your submission form, please be sure to:
- Outline your inspiration and intent for the award, including size and materials to be used. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate that they have the capacity to produce awards within the time frame and budget indicated.
- Include up to five photos of your artistic works that speak to your ability to create an award for this call.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
The application form is available here.
Please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
