Harlem String Quartet

New York-based Harlem Quartet, currently serving a three-year residency at London’s Royal College of Music, has been praised for its “panache” by The New York Times and hailed in the Cincinnati Enquirer for “bringing a new attitude to classical music, one that is fresh, bracing and intelligent.” Critic Julian Haylock, reviewing a NAXOS recording of string quartets by Walter Piston, called Harlem Quartet a “formidable ensemble whose members play highly demanding scores with infectious vitality, breezy confidence and (most importantly) affectionate warmth.”

CELEBRATE! Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir

In 1982, Dr. Trevor W. Payne CM first brought together the Montreal Black Community Youth Choir and the United Union Church Senior Choir for what was to be a single performance. Now, over three decades later, the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir has gained international renown, having performed the world over, and for dignitaries such as Nelson Mandela and Queen Elizabeth II. With dozens of albums and awards, the group has collaborated with some of music biggest names including Celine Dion, Ray Charles, Michael Bolton and New Kids on the Block. Expect anything from Gregorian chant and Bach Chorales to traditional Zulu music and jazz.

Unveiling of Sixth Historical Plaque – The Village of Lonsdale

Hastings County Historical Society invites everyone to attend the unveiling of the sixth of seven bronze historical plaques to be dedicated throughout Hastings County this summer. This plaque celebrates the village that grew from James Lazier's woollen, flour and lumber mills , situated in the narrow river valley of the Salmon River. As a result of the mills, the community later known as Lonsdale, grew and contributed significantly to the development of Tyendinaga Township.

Several downtown Belleville art galleries and other businesses will welcome visitors at our monthly Art Walks, June to September. Enjoy a sensory feast of art and craft exhibits, art workshops, live music, talks, demonstrations, dance, vintage clothing and antiques, home decor, and art therapy - free of charge. Also, participating restaurants will feature mouth watering specialty dishes, prepared with artistic flare. June 7, July 19, August 9 and September 13, 4 to 7 pm.

You are invited to the 43rd annual Showcase of arts and crafts, sponsored by the North Addington Guild. About 60 exhibitors will be displaying and selling a huge variety of unique handmade Arts and Crafts, such as wood working, sewing, knitting, jewellery, paintings, photography, soaps, quilting, just to name a few. Food and refreshments, and BBQ are provided by the Mazinaw Lake Swim Committee. All profits from this venture go directly back to the swim program to teach kids to swim in the Cloyne area. All profits made by the Guild are donated to enrich the arts programs at NAEC, Cloyne, ON.

Unveiling of the Final Historical Plaque – The Miners of Marmora & Lake

Hastings County Historical Society invites everyone to attend the unveiling of the final of seven bronze historical plaques to be dedicated this summer. This plaque commemorates the establishment of Upper Canada's first pioneer Irontown, established in 1821, and the geological diversity of the area, which provided employment to generations of brave and hardworking miners who resided in the Marmora and Lake and surrounding areas.

After Rave Reviews and countless sold out performances during our two week run at the Tweed Pavilion this past summer, Tweed & Company is ecstatic to announce that HASTINGS! A NEW MUSICAL will be touring regional theatres in the summer of 2018! This hilarious, foot stomping irreverent retelling of the History of Hastings County is sure to once again be the entertainment highlight of the season! Written by the Tweed & Company Ensemble with the assistance of the Hastings County Historical Society, this show features music from several up and coming and established Canadian composers.
