Alma Vanderwey

Alma Vanderwey is a talented painter from Tweed.

Alma Vanderwey is a graduate of the Classical Animation Program of Sheridan College, has studied Graphics and Life Drawing at Loyalist College and has taught art classes. Her art has been displayed at various galleries and at many shows including The Cobourg Art Show, Bon Echo, Kawartha, Toronto Art Expo and Hoselton’s Art Show in Colborne, home of Hoselton’s Sculpture.

Alma’s art has a realism and unique 3-D quality that sets her work apart and gives you a whole new way of seeing things. It is not uncommon at shows to see people touch the paintings and then check behind the canvas. Her paintings allow us to sense the textures, vivid colours, and life force in herent in the world all around us.

Alma uses a variety of media including conte, watercolours, pencil, oil, and most often acrylic. Her paintings range in size from 8″x10″ right up to the largest which is 10ft x 20ft. She also successfully operated her own private gallery at one point.

Alma finds inspiration everywhere and finds the ordinary quite extraordinary as is apparent from the wide range of subject matter she paints.
