Dan Douglas

Musician

Dan is a professional trombonist/valve trombonist/euphoniumist who has recently moved to Belleville from Toronto.

Dan Douglas has been working as a freelance performer since the age 16 and has developed a performing career as a Trombonist/euphoniumist and vocalist in Toronto since 1981. After a 13-year career marching in Jr. Drum Corps, Dan established himself as an instructor, clinician and adjudicator for Drum Corps and Marching Bands both in Canada and the U.S. He has also trained as a drum circle facilitator and host, and develops music therapy sessions in conjunction with clients in the mental health community. Dan recently retired from active school teaching and continues to perform in the local jazz and commercial music scene. He is a member of the Quinte Symphony Orchestra and founded a widely acclaimed traditional jazz band, The Dixie Demons which performs throughout Ontario. Recently, Dan also founded a new Brass Ensemble in Belleville called Brass Action.

As a new member of the Belleville community, he would like to help to enrich the local music scene by bringing more music to the Quinte area. He performed in this years’ first annual Belleville Jazz festival and is eager to see this grow.
