Ritmo Flamenco features acclaimed flamenco guitarist Roger Scannura and dancer/choreographer Valerie Scannura.
No family lives the flamenco tradition more fully than the Scannuras. They are Canada’s preeminent flamenco family, pursuing their art form with authenticity and excellence since 1996 by Artistic Dirctor/choreographer Valerie Scannura and flamenco guitarist/composer Roger Scannura. They have an international reputation and have performed to critical acclaim in concerts and festivals worldwide in North America, the United States, Mexico, Europe and the Middle East. Paula Citron of the Globe and Mail stated: The intriguing collage of forms advances flamenco beyond it’s usual boundaries, retaining the exhilaration and passion of the genre”. Their base has been Toronto but also enjoy their home in Prince Edwards County since 2008 where they have enjoyed being part of the arts scene in the surrounding Quinte area.
