Be Part of Something BIG – Community Mural Mosaic Project

The Quinte Arts Council is offering our community something truly extraordinary — the opportunity to help create a 12 x 24 foot mural mosaic that will be unveiled this June in downtown Belleville. This large-scale collaborative artwork is part of Canada Connects: Nature’s Canvas National Mural and features a custom mural design by Canadian muralist Lewis Lavoie.
The full mural is composed of 4,000 individual hand-painted tiles from communities across the country. Of those, 150 tiles will be created right here by our local community, giving Quinte residents a meaningful presence within this powerful national artwork.
This initiative is about more than paint on canvas. It is about unity, belonging, and collective impact. Each participant paints one small tile — a personal expression that becomes part of a much larger image. When assembled, these thousands of individual works will form a striking visual story that reflects how creativity connects communities from coast to coast.
Here’s how you can take part:
Purchase a mural kit for $40 – includes tile, paint, brushes and a small easel.
Paint your tile in your own unique style using the paint colours provided.
Submit your completed tile digitally by April 15th.
Your artwork becomes part of the 4,000-tile national mural masterpiece.
No artistic experience is required. Whether you are an established artist, a student, a family, or someone simply curious to try something new, your contribution matters. Every tile plays an essential role in completing the larger design.
When unveiled this June in downtown Belleville, the mural will stand as a lasting symbol of collaboration and shared identity. It will represent both our local artistic voice and our connection to a broader national movement celebrating nature, community, and creativity.
