Belleville audiences are invited to escape the cold and step into the vibrant heart of an African village—without ever leaving town. On Saturday, February 14, 2026, the African Arts Institute presents WON’MA AFRICA, an electrifying concert that promises warmth, joy, and unforgettable artistry, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Centennial Secondary School – 160 Palmer Rd, Belleville, ON.
Created by visionary choreographer Yamoussa Bangoura, WON’MA AFRICA—meaning “Our Africa” in the Sousou language—is inspired by daily life in Guinea and adapted from the acclaimed production Africa in Circus. Performed by the internationally celebrated Kalabanté Productions, the show is a high-energy celebration of African culture, youth, and resilience. Audiences will be captivated by gravity-defying acrobatics, breathtaking contortion, brilliant dance choreography, and awe-inspiring human pyramids, all set to traditionally inspired West African rhythms.
The evening also highlights a rich lineup of guest artists, including Jennifer E. Brant, the dynamic duo Ruth Mathiang and Kobena Aquaa-Harrison, and ISABELLA, a Belleville-based group of drummers, adding strong local and cross-cultural voices to the program.
As Isaac Akrong, President of the African Arts Institute, beautifully shares:
“The reverberation of the community with the path of African rhythms offers an experience of unique goose bumps that transports through an inner self journey, which is paramount to the healthy lifestyle of the local community. It’s all about our common humanity having fun via music, dance, song, and storytelling, creating quality lasting memories.”
Tickets are affordably priced to ensure accessibility: $30 general admission, $22 students, $15 seniors, and $15 for ages 13 and under. Tickets are available online at Eventbrite or by calling 613-970-6401.
The African Arts Institute gratefully acknowledges the support of the City of Belleville, Canadian Heritage, and the Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board.
