The Quinte Arts Council Celebrates Pride Month with the 7th Annual Rainbow Exhibition: Stronger Together
This Pride Month, the Quinte Arts Council’s Cultural Hub and Gallery proudly hosts the 7th annual Rainbow exhibition—a celebration of the strong, vibrant talents and expressions of local 2SLGBTQIA+ and allied artists. This year’s theme, “Stronger Together,” highlights the strength, resilience, and solidarity of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, especially in challenging times. Each piece in the exhibition is a unique reflection of the artist’s lived experiences and personal interpretation of the theme. The show is a powerful call for unity—not only within the community but also among allies—emphasizing the value of standing together and honouring all individuals equally.
The exhibition features an array of artistic mediums, including crochet, digital art, mixed media, and painting, showcasing the rich diversity of creative expression in our region.
Everyone is welcome in the gallery throughout June—regardless of gender, sexual, or romantic identity. Allies are encouraged to visit and engage with the work on display. Now more than ever, it is vital not just to listen to but to truly hear and uplift 2SLGBTQIA+ voices. This exhibition offers an opportunity to support and celebrate the artists and community members sharing their art and stories.
The opening reception for Rainbow: Stronger Together will be held on Thursday, June 5, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., and the public is warmly invited to attend. Meet the artists and enjoy an evening of inspiration and community connection. This year’s featured artists include A. Newman, Ashley Ridder, Cat Currie, Daniel Fobert, Joanne Kells, Lisa Leskien, Lorraine Mackie, Phoenix Kimmerly, Ron Waddling, Sabian Ackles, Sam Smith, William Richards, Zak Rittwage.
The Quinte Arts Council is committed to being a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for all!
Janet Jarrell, Executive Director of the Quinte Arts Council, shares:
“The 7th annual Rainbow exhibition at the QAC Cultural Hub celebrates the vibrant creativity and resilience of our community. With this year’s theme, #StrongerTogether, we are proud to showcase the largest number of submissions yet—a testament to the power of collaboration, equity, and inclusion. At the Quinte Arts Council, we believe that art has the ability to unite, uplift, and inspire. This exhibition embodies our mandate to foster community engagement, amplify diverse voices, and strengthen the cultural fabric of the Quinte region. We are honoured to support and showcase the incredible talents of local artists as we continue to grow and thrive together.”
The exhibition runs from June 5 to June 27 at the Quinte Arts Council Cultural Hub and Gallery. Join us in celebrating Pride through the powerful lens of art—because we are truly Stronger Together.
