Event Overview

As part of the celebration for Bay of Quinte Pride, Quinte Arts Council, in collaboration with local artist Luisé Cisneros, intends to honour our 2SLGBTQ+ community members who have passed away. We are inviting Bay of Quinte community members to bring a photograph of their loved ones to be part of an art installation that honours the memory of the people that who are no longer with us. The photographs will be part of an ofrenda, a traditional Mexican altar that commemorates and celebrates friends and family members who have died.

This art installation is a way for the Bay of Quinte Community to pay respect and remember those we have lost and also remind us that there is still work to be done for 2SLGBTQ+ rights.

Photograph Guidelines
Please, take into consideration that the photograph submission must meet the following guidelines:

• A copy of a photograph in colour or black and white (please DO NOT submit an original photograph).
• The photograph could be a portrait or full body picture.
• Photo dimensions: minimum size of 4” x 6” to a maximum size of 8′′ x 10′′.

The photographs must be submitted by Friday May 31st, 2024. Submissions may be made by dropping off in-person at Quinte Arts Council located at 36 Bridge Street East, Tuesday to Friday from 10 am to 3 pm.

By submitting the photograph copies, you give permission for them to be used in the installation, in promotional materials, and as part of a spiritual ceremony where they will be ritualistically turned to ash at the end of the exhibit.
