Visual Artist

Mark Algar

Mark Algar is a visual artist who works with oil paints to visually tell stories through colour, light and figues. Sometimes his work is accompanied by writings to further explore themes. He almost always includes people into his works.

A life long lover of the arts Mark has lived and created across the globe. Born in the Yukon Territory Mark was raised in Ontario. Work has taken him to New Zealand, the United States, France and around Europe.

Mark enjoys 3D art and took up weaving before centring his focus on oil painting, although he also enjoys watercolour and sketching. His time abroad helped him find inspiration from museums, cityscapes and landscapes.

He was coached by oil painter Beck Parks in Dallas, Texas before moving to Arizona where he continued his development as an artist through courses at the Scottsdale Artists’ School and was coached by artist Susan Diehl. Mark moved back to Ontario in 2020.
